|The Prairie Village Tree Board held their Annual Arbor Day Event at Porter Park on April 25th. The Tree Board honored Jack Lewis as the 2015 Arbor Day Honoree. He served on the Prairie Village Tree Board for 14 years participating in several projects and most recently in the rating of the City's Ash Trees. Jack is currently the President of the Prairie Fields Homes Association and has been on the board approximately 10 years.
Jack Lewis moved to Prairie Village with his parents in 1954 and he said that when they arrived it really was a prairie, but his family along with all the other residents of Prairie Village started planting trees and helped to create the beautiful urban forest that we all know and love today.
The beautiful Black Tupelo tree was planted in honor of Jack Lewis for his contributions to the City of Prairie Village and especially the Tree Board. The tree was donated by Loma Vista Nursery and the Tree Board would like to thank them for their generous donation.
