Johnson County Citizens Academy
Recently the County announced a pilot Johnson County Citizens Academy program to take place this spring.
It is the County's goal, through the creation of the Johnson County Citizens Academy Program, to allow opportunities for involved and community-minded residents to come find out what makes the County's high quality of life possible through behind the scenes, tours, hands-on activities and conversations with County staff. Participants in the Johnson County Citizens Academy will learn more about the day to day functions and operation of County services from staff members from Johnson County Park and Recreation, Libraries, Public Works, Health and Human Services and many other departments that contribute to the County's vibrant community.
The Johnson County Citizens Academy will consist of weekly sessions which will combine, tours, discussions, lectures, and hands-on activities in order to create a friendly and informative learning environment for participants. Upon the completion of weekly classes (spanning about three hours), the graduates of the program will attend a graduation ceremony and will receive recognition of program completion from the Board of County Commissioners at a ceremony in the Commission Chambers.
Applications are being accepted through the end of January. The online application can be found at: www.jocogov.org/citizensacademy
