Come celebrate Independence Day at the City of Prairie Village’s 20TH Annual VillageFest celebration on Monday, July 4th. Admission is free and all activities are held on the Municipal Campus at 7700 Mission Road.
The festivities on July 4 begin with a pancake breakfast hosted by Chris Cakes from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Harmon Park Pavilion. The Spirit Award Ceremony will be held at 8:30 a.m. with a return engagement by our own Prairie Village resident and Kansas City Symphony Chorus member Kristy Lambert singing the National Anthem.
New this year – a HUGE SLIP-N-SLIDE down the big hill from the Pavilion. Come ready to get wet & have fun!
If you like baking, you’ll want to enter our annual Pie Baking Contest for the chance to win a prize and bragging rights for the best pie. Register at www.pvkansas.com/piebakingcontest. Crafters will be back with handmade items for sale.
Other activities throughout the day run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and include: a children’s parade, live music; children’s crafts; bounce houses and other inflatables; petting zoo and pony rides; face painters; living history exhibit; and much, much more. (PS – Mr Bones will be back!) Everyone is invited to VillageFest 2016; bring your family, friends, and neighbors! The schedule of events and map are available here.
A misprint in Village Voice included The Headstrong for Jake Bike Rodeo as a participant in the event. Unfortunately, the organization is unable to attend this year. We thank them for their many years of service and dedication to VillageFest and the Prairie Village community!
