Below is information about the requirements of the City's Massage Therapy Business licensing program:
- License fee is $40
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old.
- Applicant must provide proof of graduation of a massage therapy program by certified transcript of 500 hours in theory, method or practice of massage OR Proof of National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork
- Applicant must be CPR/First Aid Certified.
- Applicant must complete 12 hours of continuing education each year.
- Massage Therapist application must be on file with the City Clerk's office and permit approved prior to practicing massage therapy in Prairie Village.
- If conducting business from a commercial-zoned property, a Massage Therapy Business License must be applied for, approved and isued by the City prior to the operation of the massage therapy business. The applicant will pay the fee for the Business license but not the Massage Therapist license.
- If conducting a home-based business, a Massage Therapy Business License must be applied for, approved and issued by the City prior to the operation of the massage therapy business. The applicant will pay the fee for the Business license but not the Massage Therapist license.
- All licenses mut be renewed annually.
