- Amplified Sound Permit/Agreement
Apply for an amplified sound permit. Loud noise is prohibited before 7:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m. on weekdays (except Fridays, which will be until 12:00 a.m./midnight) and before 8:00 a.m. and after midnight on weekends (except on Sundays, which will be 10:00 p.m.) Even with a permit, amplified sound cannot be used during these times.

Animal Licensing

All cats and dogs, six months of age and older, must be licensed with the City. The licensing process ensures that animals have current rabies vaccinations which must be current in order to obtain an animal license. Each household is permitted to have a maximum of four pets with no more than three of one species (dog or cat). Licenses must be renewed every one, two or three years depending on the license purchased. Rabies vaccinations must be valid for the duration of the license being purchased. If an animal cannot tolerate the rabies vaccination, a letter stating the intolerance must be provided by the vet.

It is unlawful in the City of Prairie Village to discriminate against individuals in employment, housing, and public accommodations based on sexual orientation or gender identity. If you believe you have been discriminated against, you may file a claim with the City Clerk’s office using this claim form. All discrimination claims must be filed with the City within 60 days of the last act of discrimination.

Learn about innovative programs and practical solutions that communities are using to protect our planet, reduce emissions, and ensure a healthier, fairer future for all.
Moderator:
Jamie Green - Jamie is the owner of Greenhouse Consulting which provides “full-service public policy consulting services to a diverse range of clients, including non-profit organizations, foundations, municipalities, and businesses. My mission is to help my clients achieve their goals in energy and environment issues, economic development, sustainability, and communications.” Jamie also hosts the Killing City Podcast which “explores the most bizarre, unsettling, and truly odd historic murders that have transpired in the heart of the Midwest.”
Panelists:
Dr. Dorothy Daley- Dorothy Daley is a Professor at the University of Kansas with a joint appointment in the School of Public Affairs & Administration and the Environmental Studies Program. She holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of California, Davis and an M.S. in Environmental Science from Louisiana State University.
Tom Jacobs: Tom is the Director of Environmental Programs at the Mid-America Regional Council, a position he has held since 2001. In that role, he works with many community partners on regional policy and planning initiatives related to climate resilience, green infrastructure, air and water quality and solid waste management. Tom received graduate degrees in ecology and sociology from Duke University and Cornell University, respectively.
Alej Martinez: Alej is the Program Coordinator for Community Engagement & Education at the University of Kansas NSF Established Program for Stimulating Competitive Research. Alej’s work focuses on “building community resilience through the critical lenses of social equity and authentic community engagement.” Alej has a Masters’ Degree in Resilient and Sustainable Communities from Prescott College.
Scott Wagner: Scott is the Executive Director of Bridging the Gap, which has a vision of “A green and just world where communities are empowered by knowledge and united in action to build a resilient future.” Scott also serves as a commissioner in Clay County Missouri and teaches as an Adjunct Professor at UMKC. He previously served as the Director of Community Economic Development at the Mattie Rhodes Center.
