Public Input Needed for Expanding Johnson County Bus Service

Post Date:03/04/2016 9:00 AM

A series of meetings is scheduled in March to collect public opinion about how public transportation should be expanded in Johnson County this year.

The four Johnson County meetings are an opportunity for residents and customers to voice their opinion.

Expanded bus service is part of Johnson County’s 2016 budget that allocated more money for various taxpayer services, including parks, libraries and other amenities adding to the county’s quality of life. KCATA anticipates implementing many of the proposed improvements in July, with additional improvements tied to upcoming service changes in Kansas City later this year.

KCATA is seeking comment on a variety of transit routes, including bus service on Metcalf Avenue, 75th Street, 95th Street, Quivira Road and Nall Avenue. KCATA wants to hear what transit services people want to reach major activity centers, including employers, schools and retail areas.

Here is a list of the following meeting times, dates and places:

  • Tuesday, March 8, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Johnson County Community College, Hudson Auditorium, second floor of the Nerman Museum.
