JCPRD receives national award for Meadowbrook Park

Post Date:06/29/2016 4:54 PM

Johnson County Park and Recreation Department (JCPRD) announced on Wednesday that the agency has been selected for a Planning Initiative Award from the National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials for the Meadowbrook Park Master Plan Project.

The new 80-acre park site is located on the site of a former Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club, and will be part of a mixed-use development in an area of the county that has a significant shortage of parks and open space. The master planning process took place in 2015 and included numerous public meetings which were attended by more than 1,000 citizens.

JCPRD acknowledges that this project would not have been possible without significant cooperation from the city of Prairie Village, the developer, and Johnson County government.

The full press release is available to view on the JCPRD website.
