Teen Council Applications - Now Open!

Post Date:07/31/2018

Many people dedicate time to their communities through public service. Participation in local government helps students understand the challenges and rewards of public service. Students might also discover a way in which they could contribute to our community. For these reasons, the City of Prairie Village created the Prairie Village Teen Council five years ago. This is an exciting learning opportunity for our high school students.

This program provides Prairie Village youth an opportunity to learn and actively engage in municipal government, positively impact our community, and gain leadership experience.
Opportunities include:

• Participating in Council Committee meetings with City Council members
• Serving the community
• Attending community committee meetings with a City Council member
• Learning about the Prairie Village Police Department and riding along on patrol
• Touring public works areas
• Engaging with community leaders

We are looking for six of the best and brightest youth in Prairie Village.  We invite those interested to read and complete the requirements and application found on the Prairie Village website here. The application and supplementary materials are due by 5 p.m. Central time, Friday, September 14, 2018.

We look forward to providing this incredible opportunity to our students. Please feel free to email Council Member Terrence Gallagher at tgallagher@pvkansas.com should you have any questions.
