Solid waste services impacted by ice storm
The City of Prairie Village has received word that due to road conditions, Republic Services suspended operations before the completion of all routes Wednesday, Feb. 6. Collection was also postponed Thursday Feb. 7 due to ice and snow.
Republic Service Manager of Municipal Sales Hank Potts outlined the plan for collection the rest of the week.
"The plan is a little confusing because of the time of day that we suspended operations yesterday," Potts wrote in an email to city staff. "Some drivers were able to complete their Wednesday routes, other driver were not. The drivers that were unable to complete their Wednesday route will start at that point on Friday then immediately move to the Thursday route, then finally to the Friday route. For the drivers that finished their Wednesday routes they will start Friday morning on their Thursday route before starting their Friday route. It will take all day Saturday to be finished, but as soon as a driver is finished they will double back and help another driver to make sure everyone is serviced by end of day Saturday."
Residents are asked to put their trash bins out on their normal collection day and leave them out until items have been collected.
The City will post updates as they are available at www.pvkansas.com and using social media. You can follow the City of Prairie Village on Nextdoor, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
