    Following a stay at home order issued for Johnson County and a subsequent order issued by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, based on recommendations from health experts surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Prairie Village has reduced the number of staff working from its facilities and temporarily altered some services.     3/30/2020 A statewide Stay at Home order has been issued by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly.  Executive Order No. 20-16, establishes a statewide “stay home” order in conjunction with the Kansas Essential Function Framework for COVID-19 response efforts.

    Large item pickup POSTPONED

    The large item pickup originally scheduled for March 28 & April 4 has been postponed.

    The new tentative dates for this year’s collection are:

    June 6 - Residents on and north of 75th Street and those east of Belinder
    June 13 - Residents south of 75th Street, except those east of Belinder

    Items must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. 

    Items collected include:

    • Appliances
    • Railroad ties (4’ or less in length)
    • Fencing (cut into 3’ x 4’ sections. Bundle loose pickets for easy collection.)
    • Furniture
    • Carpet (cut into 4’ x 4’ sections) 
    • Items not collected by regular trash service

    Items should be no larger than a standard-size refrigerator. Republic will pick up refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and ice makers; however, the refrigerant must be removed.
