Prairie Village seeks candidates for Ward 3 Councilmember

Post Date:12/22/2025 1:42 PM

The City of Prairie Village is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy for Ward 3 representative to the City Council. The vacancy was created when Ward 3 Councilmember Lori Sharp announced her resignation.

The mayor and 12 elected councilmembers serve as the legislative and policy-making body of the City. The mayor and council provide leadership, vision and direction for City staff and resources. The six wards in Prairie Village are each represented by two councilmembers.

Ward 3 residents interested in serving on the Prairie Village City Council can apply online at  https://www.pvkansas.com/governing-body/city-council/city-council-application. Applications will be accepted until Sunday, January 11. After an interview and selection process, a candidate will be recommended for appointment by the mayor and will need to be ratified by the City Council, likely at the first meeting in February.

The term left vacant by Sharp's departure expires in 2027. If the appointed candidate wishes to remain on the council at the expiration of the term, they must run for election in 2027.

Council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 7700 Mission Road.

A Prairie Village ward map is available online at www.pvkansas.com/wardmap.
