Apply for an amplified sound permit. Loud noise is prohibited before 7:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m. on weekdays (except Fridays, which will be until 12:00 a.m./midnight) and before 8:00 a.m. and after midnight on weekends (except on Sundays, which will be 10:00 p.m.) Even with a permit, amplified sound cannot be used during these times.

All cats and dogs, six months of age and older, must be licensed with the City. The licensing process ensures that animals have current rabies vaccinations which must be current in order to obtain an animal license. Each household is permitted to have a maximum of four pets with no more than three of one species (dog or cat). Licenses must be renewed every one, two or three years depending on the license purchased. Rabies vaccinations must be valid for the duration of the license being purchased. If an animal cannot tolerate the rabies vaccination, a letter stating the intolerance must be provided by the vet.

If you believe you have been discriminated against, you may file a claim with the City Clerk’s office using this claim form. All discrimination claims must be filed with the City within 60 days of the last act of discrimination.

Prairie Village 5k – Traffic Alert
The Prairie Village 75 on 75th 5k run/walk will be held on March 28, 2026, beginning and ending at Harmon Park. Between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., travelers should expect delays and detours along eastbound 75th Street, between Roe Avenue and Booth Drive.
Households located along Delmar between West 78th Street and 75th Street, and households located on West 75th Terrace between Booth Drive and Belinder Avenue, should also expect intermittent impacts to traffic.
Event Timeline
7 a.m. – Road closure eastbound 75th Street, between Roe Avenue and Booth Drive.
8 a.m. – Race begins
9 a.m. – Remaining walkers will be moved to the sidewalk, roadways will reopen
Race Route
The race route will begin and end at Harmon Park. Participants will run north on Delmar, east on 75th Street, make a loop around the former church at 75th and Belinder, and head back west on 75th Street, turn south on Delmar, and finish at Harmon Park. Shawnee Mission East access
For morning events at Shawnee Mission East, please plan to use the parking lot entrance off Mission Road.
Join the festivities!
Race registration is still open to runners and walkers (t-shirt not guaranteed). Residents are invited to cheer on the racers along the route. Or, feel free to join the post-race celebration at Harmon Park. A local DJ will be playing family friendly music, and food will be available to purchase from Chick-Fil-A. 75th anniversary merchandise will also be available for purchase. Event parking is available at Shawnee Mission East or the former YMCA building at 79th Street and Delmar.
