Citizen Appreciation Award given to PV resident
At the February 7th City Council Meeting, Chief Wes Jordan presented P.V. resident Devin Mundy with the Department's Citizen Appreciation Award for his actions in helping the Police Department apprehend three burglary suspects last year. On November 23rd, 2010, Devin Mundy was preparing to leave for work and noticed a suspicious vehicle at a residence in the 2300 block of west 76th Street. Instead of immediately leaving the area, he circled the block to check on the vehicle. As he drove by the house a second time, he observed a burglary in progress as three suspects were carrying a TV out of the house. He immediately dialed 911, and as the suspects fled the area, he put himself in harm's way by chasing the suspects through the neighborhood. He provided updated information to the Police Dispatcher, and followed the suspects until officers could take over the pursuit. After the incident, he provided information and assistance to the investigating officers and detectives. The Police Department does not encourage its residents to chase suspects; however in this instance, Devin's actions that day helped us take three burglary suspects off the streets.
