Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) have been installed at the mid-block crosswalk located in various locations throughout the City, including:

  • Weltner Park on Cambridge Street
  • Meadowbrook Park on Roe and Nall
  • Franklin Park on Somerset
  • 83rd and Juniper
  • 67th and Delmar

RRFBs are pedestrian-activated beacons that alternate flashing amber LED lights to notify drivers when a pedestrian is entering the crosswalk. Public Works installed these solar-powered beacons as part of a pilot program aimed at improving traffic safety in Prairie Village.
