Village Vision 2.0
In the Fall of 2018, the City Council authorized city staff and the Planning Commission to begin working to update Village Vision – the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The original Village Vision was adopted in 2007 and contains recommendations on issues ranging from redevelopment, to land use, to parks. Many of the goals and implementation strategies outlined in the original Village Vision Plan have since been accomplished, so the City felt it was time to refresh the City’s goals and envision what we would like the City to accomplish over the next twenty years.
The first step in this process was for the City to look at our existing data and refresh our community profile to gain a better understanding of our current strengths and weaknesses that exist today. View the updated community profile.
Throughout 2019, the Planning Commission and City Staff have been using this updated community profile to refresh the City’s vision and goals. View the proposed goals. In September of 2019, residents will have the opportunity to weigh in and provide input on those efforts as we further finalize the new vision and goals for the City. After that, the City will begin working on implementation strategies to meet the goals that were set by staff, the Planning Commission, our residents, and our elected officials. Residents will also have an opportunity to weigh in on the implementation strategies before Village Vision 2.0 is finalized.
If you would like to share what your vision for the future of Prairie Village is over the next 20 years, join us at a community visioning workshop on either September 9 or September 12, 2019. These workshops will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook Clubhouse, located at 9101 Nall Avenue. The agenda for the community visioning workshops is as follows:
5:30 PM Refreshments and Introductions
6:00 PM Presentation
6:15 PM Roundtable Discussion Activity #1
6:35 PM Roundtable Discussion Activity #2
7:00 PM Wrap-Up and Dot Poll
If you can’t make it to the September 9 or 12 meetings, we still want your input. Please take a quick survey.
