City of Prairie Village

The Department held the 15th annual Shop with a PV Cop event in 2025.  Each year, with the assistance of the Prairie Village Police Department’s D.A.R.E. officer and Prairie Village elementary school staff, 10 children and their families are chosen to participate in this event.  We receive donations of gift cards and product from many local vendors for gift bags, in addition to funding from the City of Prairie Village Municipal Foundation for the purchases we make.  Our officers take the children shopping at Target in Mission, then bring them back to the station to have a pizza party.  Our staff of volunteer ‘elves’ wrap all their presents for them, and they are able to go home that evening with what we hope will make the holiday season a little brighter for the children and their families.  Following are a few photos from the 2025 event:

 We were able to help 10 deserving elementary school children and their families have a little bit happier holiday with the help of generous donations, gift bags, gift cards from the following groups, businesses and many anonymous contributors:

Recycle your old cell phone and help support the Prairie Village Police Department's Shop with a PV Cop program. All proceeds from the recycled phones will be contributed to this annual event. Cell phones are collected by the Police Records and Communications staff in the lobby of the Police Department all year long.  Stop by any time and drop off your phone for recycling.  Keep your cell phone out of a landfill and recycle it for a good cause!  Shop with a PV Cop is sponsored by the Prairie Village Municipal Foundation.
