Apply for an amplified sound permit. Loud noise is prohibited before 7:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m. on weekdays (except Fridays, which will be until 12:00 a.m./midnight) and before 8:00 a.m. and after midnight on weekends (except on Sundays, which will be 10:00 p.m.) Even with a permit, amplified sound cannot be used during these times.

All cats and dogs, six months of age and older, must be licensed with the City. The licensing process ensures that animals have current rabies vaccinations which must be current in order to obtain an animal license. Each household is permitted to have a maximum of four pets with no more than three of one species (dog or cat). Licenses must be renewed every one, two or three years depending on the license purchased. Rabies vaccinations must be valid for the duration of the license being purchased. If an animal cannot tolerate the rabies vaccination, a letter stating the intolerance must be provided by the vet.

A Right-of-Way Permit is required if any work is being done in the City Right-of-Way consisting of the City street, sidewalk as well as the green area which is typically 10 to 12 feet behind the curb.

Common Right-of-Way work requiring a permit(s) includes:
- Driveway replacement or expansion
- Utility work or relocation
- Irrigation installation
- Tree Planted in this Right-of-Way area
- Traffic Control for lane drops or road closures
What information is required for a Right-of-Way Permit:
- All Right-of-Way Permits require a plan showing location of work to be done.
- Contractors are required to provide a Certificate of Insurance showing the City of Prairie Village as the certificate holder.
- Contractors are required to have a 2-year Maintenance Bond
- Follow the link for the Insurance and bond requirements.
- Contractors are also required to have a Contractor's License with the City of Prairie Village. You can obtain that license in OpenGov as well.
- Homeowners are not required to obtain a Certificate of Insurance or Maintenance Bond if they are the ones performing the work.
- The most requested details associated with Right of Way permits are:
- curb types
- sidewalks, including working with trees in the right of way
- repairing streets associated with utility work
- any open cut not repaired to the requirements of the street repair detail shall require a street plate.

A Drainage Permit is required if you are constructing a new home, adding an addition on your home, adding a pool, expanding the driveway or patio, or performing any grading on the site more than a "landscape bed".
- Drainage Permits under 200 square feet require:
- Site plan showing the area of work and square footage of impervious area.
- Drainage Permits over 200 square feet or tear-down rebuilds require:
- Site plan
- Grading plan
- Drainage Study performed by a Kansas licensed Professional Engineer.
- For projects between 200 and 500 square feet, contact the Stormwater Engineer at cspeegle@pvkansas.com to determine if a Drainage Study is required.
A Tree Plan Permit is required if you are constructing a new residential structure, a teardown of at least 10% of an existing residential structure, an addition of over 600 square feet or more to a residential structure, a commercial project that requires a Drainage Permit.
- Tree Plan Permit requires the following information:
- Landscape plan indicating the location of any proposed removals or addition of trees.
