Prairie Village Mayor declares local state of emergency due to COVID-19 pandemic, effective immediately
Prairie Village Mayor Eric Mikkelson has declared a local state of emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prairie Village City Hall and the Public Works Administration building will be closed to the public effective at 8 a.m. March 17.

At its February 3 meeting, the Prairie Village City Council voted to remove breed-specific language from the City’s Code of Ordinances, repealing a citywide ban on pit bulls in city limits. The change to the ordinance became effective upon publication February 11.

The City is always looking for ways to be better stewards of our environment. One of the ways in which we are doing that is through our recent launch of a pilot program where randomly selected households in the City can now place food compost and glass recycling at the curb for pickup.
