Johnson County Park & Recreation Swim Lessons

Swim lessons for non-swim team participants are provided at the Prairie Village Pool by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD.) You do not need to be a member of the Prairie Village Pool to take swim lessons through Johnson County Park and Recreation.

Registration for lessons & programs will be taken through Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD), 6501 Antioch, Merriam KS, Monday – Friday, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. You may also register by phone at 913-831-3359 between 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. For more information about JCPRD programs, visit their website at

JCPRD offers a variety of classes for those aged 6 months to adult. Please contact JCPRD for specific class offerings, times, and prerequisites. The JCPRD Swim Program will conduct out-of-water safety and deck training for days of inclement weather or insufficient staff.

Lessons are offered Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.; eight 30 minute lessons per session, during the following dates:

  • June 8 - 18
  • June 22 - July 2
  • July 6 - 16
  • July 20 - 30

Course Fees for Learn to Swim Lessons (per session)*

  • Johnson County Residents: $60
  • Non-Johnson County Residents: $66

* No child will go without lessons if he or she is unable to pay. Contact the Johnson County Park & Recreation District at 913-831-3355 ext. 227 for scholarship information.
