2026 Swim Lesson Sessions

• All lessons will be held at the Prairie Village Pool (7711 Delmar)
• Lessons are held Monday-Thursday. Friday will be used as a make-up date in case of inclement weather, with the exception of June 19 and June 26.  Missed lessons will not be refunded. 
• Class sizes are limited. Preschool-4 kids in a class, All other levels- 6 kids in a class.
• When selecting a level for your child, please keep in mind that skills obtained last summer, if not maintained through the year, tend to regress.

Session 1 - June 8-11, 15-18 (8 lessons, 25 minutes each)

There will not be a make-up lesson on Friday, June 19.

9:30 a.m. -  Preschool,  Level 1, Level 2

Session 2 - June 22-25, June 29-July 2 (8 lessons, 25 minutes each.) 

There will not be make-up lesson on Friday, June 26.

 Levels/Class Descriptions

• Parent/Child (ages 1-2)
  This is an introductory class for children to learn to be comfortable in the water. A parent or guardian must be in the water at all times.

• Preschool (ages 3-4)
  Children will work on floating, submerging their face, freestyle, and backstroke with support.  

• Level 1 (ages 5-17)
  Children will work on floating, and swimming freestyle and backstroke 5 yards.  

• Level 2 (ages 5-17)
  Children will work on swimming freestyle and backstroke 12.5 yards, and begin breaststroke.  
  Pre-requisite: able to swim 5 yards free and back.

• Level 3 (ages 5-17)
  Children will work on swimming freestyle and backstroke 25 yards, breaststroke 5 yards, and begin butterfly. 
  Pre-requisite: able to swim free and back 12.5 yards.

• Level 4 (ages 5-17)
  Children will work on swimming freestyle and backstroke 50 yards, breaststroke and butterfly 12.5 yards.  
  Pre-requisite: able to swim free and back 25 yards.  

Registration

Swim lessons for non-swim team participants are provided at the Prairie Village Pool. You do not need to be a member of the Prairie Village Pool to take swim lessons.

Registration will be available online beginning at 8 a.m. April 1. Registration is also taken in person at City Hall, 7700 Mission Road, Monday – Friday, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available to qualified Prairie Village residents for swim lesson fees. All scholarship applicants will be required to provide the City with their previous year's federal tax return as part of the application.
