Apply for an amplified sound permit. Loud noise is prohibited before 7:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m. on weekdays (except Fridays, which will be until 12:00 a.m./midnight) and before 8:00 a.m. and after midnight on weekends (except on Sundays, which will be 10:00 p.m.) Even with a permit, amplified sound cannot be used during these times.

All cats and dogs, six months of age and older, must be licensed with the City. The licensing process ensures that animals have current rabies vaccinations which must be current in order to obtain an animal license. Each household is permitted to have a maximum of four pets with no more than three of one species (dog or cat). Licenses must be renewed every one, two or three years depending on the license purchased. Rabies vaccinations must be valid for the duration of the license being purchased. If an animal cannot tolerate the rabies vaccination, a letter stating the intolerance must be provided by the vet.

It is unlawful in the City of Prairie Village to discriminate against individuals in employment, housing, and public accommodations based on sexual orientation or gender identity. If you believe you have been discriminated against, you may file a claim with the City Clerk’s office using this claim form. All discrimination claims must be filed with the City within 60 days of the last act of discrimination.

11:00 - Line up for the children's parade that begins at 11:15. Decorate your bikes, trikes & wagons to parade down Mission Road. All are welcome to participate. No registration necessary.

2025 Spirit Award Nominations
The VillageFest Committee will award the Community Spirit Award to Prairie Village residents and businesses that exemplify a caring spirit for our community. 2025 nominations are closed.
Advanced registration is closed. Walk-ups may be accepted at the event as space permits.
It's as American as apple pie...but you don't have to make apple! Whip up your most coveted, made-from-scratch, secret pie recipe and enter the annual VillageFest Pie Baking Contest.
Contest Details:
All pies must be entered by 8:30 a.m. on July 4th inside City Hall (7700 Mission Road). Judging will begin at 9 a.m. and winners will be announced at 10:30 a.m.
- You must complete the registration form below by July 1. Walk-ups may be accepted at the event as space permits.
- Pies will be judged on appearance, crust, filling, taste, texture, and originality. All decisions are final and are not subject to appeal.
- Pies must be made from scratch. No pre-mixes, canned filling, frozen crusts, etc.
- We recommend that pies be brought in a disposable pie plate.
- You do not have to be a Prairie Village resident to enter.
- There are three categories:
--Adult fruit pies
--Adult "other" pies (example: nut, French silk, cream pies, etc)
--Youth pies (all varieties) - Grand Prize winner will be chosen from the 1st place winners in each category. In the category that the Grand Prize Winner is chosen, 2nd place will become 1st place, 3rd place will become 2nd place, and 4th place will become 3rd place.
- You may enter as many pies as you'd like, however, you are only eligible to win once. The highest value prize will be awarded.
VillageFest is made possible because of a hardworking team of volunteers.
